Paul Fitzpatrick
Paul Fitzpatrick is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Cornwall.
Prior to that position, Mr. Fitzpatrick led the City of Cornwall's economic development efforts for 15 years. A Cornwall native, Mr. Fitzpatrick graduated from the University of Western Ontario and served as a Special Assistant to a Federal Cabinet Minister before joining the City in 1984.
Mr. Fitzpatrick has been credited with playing an integral role in the City of Cornwall's recent economic growth, which Statistics Canada labeled the highest job growth rate in the country for the period between 1996 and 1998. New companies such as Satisfied Brakes, Star-Tek, Prince Foods and SCM have all established new operations in the City, the latter building a landmark 1.4 million square foot distribution center for Wal-Mart.
Cornwall is recognized by many as a world class business location. Independent studies have ranked Cornwall as being one of the lowest cost cities in which to establish a company, based on factors such as land and building costs, labour costs, electricity and transportation.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was recently named Economic Developer of the Year (2001) by the Ontario East Economic Development Commission.
