Annual General Meeting Builds Dreams

The Team Cornwall annual general meeting was held at Dreambuilders Studios on April 7, and by all accounts it was a great success. Over 150 members and guests packed Cornwall's state of the art tv, film and music recording studios to celebrate another successful year as Team Cornwall ambassadors.

The highlight of the meeting was a presentation by CTV Ottawa news anchors Carole Anne Meehan and Graham Richardson on how local companies can tap into the resources of out of town media. The importance of telling a good story and focusing on people were stressed. The journalists answered a number of questions from the floor and afterwards met with the journalism class from St. Lawrence College.

Former anchor and honourary Team Cornwall member Max Keeping introduced the CTV Ottawa crew and took the time to express his admiration at how Cornwall tackles things head on and never backs down from a challenge.

Mayor Bob Kilger suprised Max Keeping with a key to the city, recognizing his 37 years in broadcasting and his accurate and honest account of the happenings in Cornwall during his career.

Handing out Team Cornwall cards outside the city is one way members help promote the community and this year saw a first in that tradition. While in Aruba, Remax Cornwall’s Terry Landon handed his card out underwater while scuba diving. Terry's love of Cornwall "runs deep". The Dreambuilders Group was also introduced and Mark Owen outlined the many services they can offer right here in Cornwall including film, video and music recording and editing. The company also is the North American home for the distribution and sale of Indie Guitars.

The AGM wrapped up with local filmmaker John Earle promoting Fishrizzo’s latest movie 10 Days Across Canada which will shown across the country on April 28 at a Cineplex theatre near you.
