Movie Explores “What it Means to Be Canadian”
10 Days Across Canada – The Movie: Cinematic Debut on April 7th in Cornwall,

10 Days Across Canada is the name of Fishrizzo Productions’ 4th feature length film – it also describes the shooting schedule for this film that explores “What it means to be Canadian”.

Over a 10 day period in September 2009, four filmmakers departed Cornwall, Ontario and managed to travel through 10 provinces and 3 territories. During their journey, they met celebrities and scores of everyday Canadians – from dog sledders in the North to CFL footballers in the West to native leaders in the East.

“We started out with a simple question about Canada and being Canadian” explains John Earle, who along with his partner, Frank Burelle owns Fishrizzo Productions. “I think if we were to do the film today, we might rethink our plans to cross Canada in 10 days – it is an awful big country!”

Jamie Carr – Breakout Performance
For this film Earle and Burelle (plus long-time collaborator Ron Piquette) decided to add Jamie Carr to the mix as the main on-screen interviewer. Carr, who is the morning voice of radio station Rock 101.9 in Cornwall, becomes the thread that connects the various elements of the film, peppering the dialogue with witty remarks, comedic impressions, and at one point – a daring plunge into the frigid waters of Whitehorse’s Takhini River.

“Nobody warned me that the water temperature in September in the Yukon is a little bit different to what we’re used to in Cornwall,” deadpans Carr. “I think the boys up North where having a little fun with the soft southern Canadians”.

Celebrities are Canadian Too
10 Days Across Canada feature interviews with dozens of everyday Canadians from coast to coast - plus a few celebrities as well.

“I met Adrienne Clarkson while at the A Channel studios to promote our last film”, says John Earle. “She was interested in supporting our film about Canada, and once we had a taste of star power we decided to test the waters with other celebrities. We were amazed at how quickly people wanted to help us out”.

Without giving away too much, the film includes appearances by celebrities such as astronaut Marc Garneau, actresses Geri Hall (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) and Sheila McCarthy (Little Mosque on the Prairie), Hall of Famers Doug Gilmour (NHL) and Lui Passaglia (CFL) and musical artist Natalie MacMaster – amongst others.

Cinematic Debut
The film will debut at Galaxy Cinemas in Cornwall on April 7, followed by the Toronto premiere on April 8. A limited number of tickets for each night are available. The film debuts in 20 Cineplex theatres across Canada on April 28. Tickets go on sale on April 2 at www.Cineplex.com
