Year in Review Meeting a Great Success!

This year was by far the biggest and best Year In Review meeting Team Cornwall has ever had. The attendance was amazing with over 258 people in the audience and the presentations included some wonderful surprises.

Despite constant media coverage of troubling economic news in Canada and around the world, the widely anticipated presentation by Mark Boileau of Cornwall Economic Development painted a picture of a City resisting recent negative trends.

With a presentation over 50 slides in length, Mr.Boileau highlighted the major projects and investments that have led to another impressive year of growth. These development projects stretch across the residential, commercial and institutional markets.

Mayor Bob Kilger ended off the event with a bang by announcing the establishment of a major Shopper’s Drug Mart Distribution Centre in Cornwall. This project, due to start in 2009 and end in 2010, will create over 130 full-time positions.

Prior to Mr. Boileau's presentation, Team Cornwall chair highlighted the efforts of Team Cornwall and its members as they worked to promote the City throughout 2008. Mr. Latour unveiled the new Team Cornwall trade show booth (see related article).

The meeting was well attended by the media, including CTV Ottawa, TV COGECO, Corus Cornwall, the Standard-Freeholder and Seaway News.

The meeting was held at the Galaxy Cinemas on Second Street East and was open to all.
