Team Cornwall Members Honoured Amongst the Countrys Best!

Corus Entertainment is proud to announce that Corus Radio Cornwall has recently received three prestigious national honours including two national awards for broadcasting excellence. The entire team at Corus Radio Cornwall, home of Variety 104, Rock 101.9, AM 1220 and Seawayvalley.com, are the recipients of the Corus Entertainments 2008 Presidents Award. Rock 101.9 wins the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon Award as the countrys best in station imaging and AM 1220 was honoured as a CAB Gold Ribbon Award Finalist in the category of What Radio Does Best.

The Presidents Award is a team award that recognizes the accomplishments resulting from the collaborative efforts of a group of employees. On Friday October 31st, Corus Radio Cornwall was recognized by Corus Entertainment President and CEO, John Cassaday for Teamwork and Accountability. Cassaday says, There is a very real sense of team and of Corus Values in Cornwall. With a feeling of mutual respect throughout the cluster, the team works together to deliver results. Clear expectations, a sense of accountability and a can-do attitude from every member of the team add up to winning results for the radio stations and their clients. They are also tireless in giving back to their community with the yearly radiothon in support of the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation, the Corus Cares Food Drive in support of Agape Centre, and the Corus Cares Charity Auction in support of the Childrens Treatment Centre. Corus Cornwall General Manager, Scott Armstrong also leads the local fundraising campaign for the United Way.

The CAB Gold Ribbon Awards, Canadas Top Honours in Private Broadcasting, are awarded at the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Annual Convention. On Monday November 3rd, Rock 101.9 received the CAB Gold Ribbon Award for Best Radio Station Promotion: Imaging. Rock 101.9 Program Director/Promotions and Marketing Manager, Rob Seguin says, It is truly an honour to be recognized amongst Canadas most talented and successful radio broadcasters. Our station imaging, the audio signature of our brand, focuses on what we do best. We play great rock music and have a heck of a lot of fun doing it. We hope our listeners feel the same.

AM 1220 was also recognized at the CAB Annual Convention as a finalist for What Radio Does Best. Last years 60 Days of Change campaign focused on a Cornwall in transition. Is Cornwall changing for the better? Are we going in the right direction? Is the city changing too fast or not fast enough? AM 1220 Program Director/News Director, Lorne Wiebe says, It is very exciting to be honoured as a finalist amongst large market radio stations from Toronto, Calgary, Fredericton and Winnipeg. It just goes to show, we have a great news team here at AM 1220.
