Over 160 golfers hit the links to raise a substantial amount of money for Hospice Cornwall and Team Cornwall at the recent Mayor /Council and Team Cornwall Golf Tournament.
The highlight of the day came when Scotiabank and Cornwall Electric, the two main corporate sponsors, announced major contributions to the tournaments beneficiaries. Cornwall Electric made a donation of $5000 directly to the Hospice, while the Team Scotia Community Program presented another cheque for $5000 to the tournament. Except for the direct donation, funds raised will be split equally between Hospice Cornwall and Team Cornwall. The exact amount of money raised will be formally announced at the October 27th meeting of Cornwall city council.
The new hospice is part of Carefors (formally VON) long-term vision to provide end-of-life palliative care with dignity in a home-like facility. The development of a Hospice in our community serves as an important addition and the final link to the health care facilities available in our community.
Team Cornwall uses its share of the proceeds to offset operating costs, so it can continue to spread the word about Cornwalls positive attributes as a city in which to live and do business. Team Members use their own networks to deliver timely information about the community and its growing development opportunities, and in doing so, act as ambassadors for the Citys economic development effort.
The Mayor and Council and Team Cornwall would like to express their appreciation to the many sponsors who helped make the day a huge success.
