Kinsmen Lift-Off Reaches New Heights
(July 14, 2008) Another Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off is in the books, maybe even the record books for the annual summer festival.
This year’s entertainment lineup included the likes of Glass Tiger, Dennis DeYoung and Theory of a Deadman. The attendance seen in Lamoureux Park during the DeYoung and Theory shows were two of the largest festival organizers have ever seen.
Cornwall was buzzing over the weekend when most of the balloon flights saw over 20 hot air balloons floating over the city which had people taking photos from their backyards and stopping their vehicles to get a better look. It was a truly majestic sight to see that many balloons over the seaway city including two special shapes in the form of a honey bear and a beaver.
Mother Nature cooperated for the most part allowing many families to enjoy time at the midway watching the kids laugh and play on the rides. Despite rain on Sunday many came, umbrella in hand, to see the Hannah Montana tribute and were not disappointed.
The festival showcased plenty of local talent beginning with rockers Sam Hill on Thursday night, Friday night fans were treated to the soothing sounds of A Little R&R and on Saturday night the crowd was energized by rockers Rub Salt. Tribute acts were also on the bill this year allowing people to take in live versions of their favorite songs by Santana, U2, Johnny Cash and The Eagles.
While enjoying the entertainment people could enjoy snacks made popular at such festivals like mini donuts, beavertails and a crowd favourite…poutine!
Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off truly is a family festival and a good time was had by one and all again this year. Now the anticipation will build over the next number of months to see what organizers will bring to Lamoureux Park next year.
