Alyssa Blais To Run Enterprise Centre
Alyssa Blais is the new Business Consultant with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.
Ms. Blais brings with her a varied background of business experience and education, in addition to direct entrepreneurial experience, said Mark Boileau, Manager of Economic Development with the City of Cornwall. Small business development is an important part of the Citys Economic Development Strategic Plan, and we are looking forward to a revitalization of the Centres profile in the community.
The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre provides support to start-up and small enterprises during their initial years of development and operation. Entrepreneurs are provided with easy access to business consulting services and information covering management, marketing, technology and financing. The Ontario Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship partners with the City of Cornwall to operate the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.
One of the first tasks Alyssa will tackle will be our Summer Company program, in addition to meeting with new and existing entrepreneurs, said Philipp Wood, Regional Advisor with the Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The Summer Company program provides hands-on business training and mentoring - together with awards of up to $3,000 - to help enterprising young people start up and run their own summer businesses.
Alyssa Blais will be familiar to many in the local business community. Together with her husband, she has operated From the Root Heritage Farm, a small farm business that won Entrepreneur of the Year honours from the Township of South Glengarry in 2006. Alyssa is a member of the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce, Team Cornwall and the Women Entrepreneurs of Cornwall and Area.
