Team Cornwall AGM Set for April 22

Marketing Cornwall in 2008

Senior Development Officer Bob Peters will outline the city’s marketing strategy for 2008 at Team Cornwall’s annual general meeting, set for Tuesday, April 22nd at 7:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn & Conference Centre.
An inside look at the City's marketing plan for the coming year will be the focus of the annual Team Cornwall general meeting, set for Tuesday, April 22nd at 7:30 a.m. at the Ramada Inn & Conference Centre.

Senior Development Officer Bob Peters will provide the Team with an overview of the City's plans to market Cornwall to national and international investors. Cornwall Economic Development is the City department charged with promoting the City to new residential and business investors. Team Cornwall was formed to assist in those efforts.

“Cornwall’s economy has really diversified over the past two decades, to the point now where employment is spread equally across several different business sectors”, said Bob Peters. “This has resulted in a greater variety of enquiries: from entrepreneurs, to developers to multi-national companies. We are prepared to help anybody invest in Cornwall, no matter how big or small.”

Exhibiting at trade shows, advertising, direct marketing, the Internet and co-operative trade missions are all different tactics used to market development opportunities to prospective investors. Team Cornwall members will have an inside look at how the City's marketing plan blends these tactics into an overall strategy that reflects Cornwall's new brand and positioning.

Team Cornwall will also recognize the achievements of Hannah Riordan, Tess Simpson, Zoe Kamenz and Megan Suffel, the four swimmers from the Cornwall Sea Lions who competed last week at the Olympic Swimming Trials in Montreal. Riordan and Simpson qualified for Team Canada and will represent their country at the Tri-Nations Cup in Quebec City in August. Also in attendance at the meeting will be the host organizing committee for the Royal Bank Cup who will provide an update on the event. Cornwall and the Cornwall Colts will welcome the hockey world May 3-11 to the 2008 RBC Cup at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

Admission is $10, payable at the door. To reserve a ticket, call the Team Cornwall Job Creation Partnership office at 613-933-7444, or email info@teamcornwall.com.

A new executive and slate of Team Cornwall Captains will also be announced at the meeting. Team Cornwall is made up of over 300 business people and professionals who spread the word about the positive attributes of Cornwall as a city in which to live and do business. Team members, acting as ambassadors, use their own networks to deliver timely information about the community and grow the city’s economic development opportunities.
