Team Cornwall Card Brings B.C Visitors

Christine Lefebvre, Recreation Supervisor for the department of Planning, Parks and Recreation of the City of Cornwall was in Prince George, British Columbia recently as part of Cornwall’s delegation to the Royal Bank Cup. As a result of distributing her Team Cornwall cards, she was introduced to another Lefebvre family - Alain, Susan, and Tyler - who were volunteering their time at the event.
Alain Lefebvre had relatives in Montreal and was familiar with the area, but had never actually been to Cornwall. Christine extended an invitation to the family to come to Cornwall and visit our beautiful city by the St. Lawrence.
Shortly after, Christine was contacted by the Lefebvres who were in Montreal. She promptly invited them to make a stop in Cornwall before their flight back to B.C. The Lefebvres quickly became fans of Cornwall. “I gave them a tour of the Civic Complex, brought them around Lamoureux Park and put together some Cornwall memorabilia to take home for Tyler,” says Christine. “Alain and Susan said we have a beautiful city, and would have liked to extend their stay to see more of Lift-Off and the city.”
Team Cornwall cards made a big impact at the Royal Bank Cup. “They loved them!” according to Christine. “Everyone was impressed with the look and the concept of the cards.” One of the many Team Cornwall cards distributed went to Cassie Campbell, captain of the gold medal-winning Canadian Women’s Hockey Team in 2002 and 2006.
The RBC Royal Bank Cup is the Stanley Cup of Canadian Junior A hockey, battled for every year by 138 teams representing 10 leagues across the country, all vying for Canada's National Junior A Championship. Five teams compete in the tournament; the winners of the Pacific, Western, Central, and Eastern titles, as well as the host team. Cornwall will play host to the 2008 RBC Royal Bank Cup next May.
