Team Member Elected Foundation Chair
Team Cornwall Member Peter Gault has been elected Chair of the St. Lawrence College Foundation Board of Directors.
This is the first time the Foundation has called upon one of its own alumni to lead the organization, which acts as the fundraising arm of the College. Mr. Gault graduated from St. Lawrence College in 1976 with a diploma in Business Administration - Data Processing.
"I am happy to be in a position when I can give back to an organization that created the foundation for my career and success", said Peter Gault. "If St. Lawrence College is to grow and be successful; we must continue to invest in its infrastructure with an eye towards long-term sustainability."
Peter Gault is the owner of local software company Busitech and its sister web design firm, WEBtech. In addition to being one of the founding members of Team Cornwall, Mr. Gault is a Past President of the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce.
"Peter has held many leadership positions in our community and is a very successful graduate of our campus," says Pat Finucan, Cornwall Campus Executive Director. "He cares enormously about the success of our communities and our College. He is ideally suited to lead our Foundation."
The St. Lawrence College Foundation was established in 1998 and operates, with the support of the College's Development Office, as the fundraising arm of the College. Since incorporation, the Foundation has helped secure over $10 million for capital construction, equipment renewal, special projects and endowed bursary funds at all three of the College’s main campuses.
St. Lawrence College has approximately 5,000 full-time students and 20,000 part-time registrants, and 3,000 Job Connect Clients in over 80 academic programs and employs over 1,000 full-time and part-time staff at our three campuses in Brockville, Cornwall, and Kingston. In addition to a new residence resulting in over 700 residence beds, the College has recently invested in new programs including degree Nursing, Energy Systems Engineering Technology, Motive Power, and the Culinary Co-op Apprenticeship Diploma Program, among others.
Mr. Gault replaces David Beatty of Brockville, Ontario who has held the position for the past two years.
Mr. Gault is joined on the Foundation's 2007/2008 Board of Directors by other Team Cornwall members, including Mayor Bob Kilger, Neil Burke of Brookgate Investments, Terry Landon of Remax Cornwall Realty Inc. and Patrick Finucan of St. Lawrence College.
