Lift-Off 2007 Line-Up - Best Yet!
 Canadian musical legends Tom Cochrane, Sass Jordan and April Wine, back by popular demand, will be the headliners at Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2007 festival. Organizers announced Friday that these three popular acts will share the Lift-Off stage with a long line-up of local bands and children’s entertainment at this year's 11th annual edition of the hot air balloon and entertainment festival. Lift-Off 2007 is set to take place July 12 to 15 in Lamoureux Park.
"We are absolutely thrilled with the slate of headliners that have been assembled for Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2007," said festival chair Chris Savard. "The bands selected represent a wide cross-section of musical interests and we are confident that this is our best line-up yet."
Last summer during Lift-Off 2006, more than 50,000 spectators packed Lamoureux Park to take in shows by local acts and big-name performers including headliners Loverboy, Colin James, Alannah Myles, and organizers are confident the slate of entertainment for this year's event will draw even more people to the park.
Thursday night’s show will start off with Shania Twin, a tribute to Shania Twain, followed by Barstool Prophets, opening up for an encore performance by April Wine.
Greenwich Meantime and DALA will open for Tom Cochrane and Red Rider on Friday night. Saturday’s line-up features local sensations Sam Hill, Superstone and Rub Salt opening up for Sass Jordan. All three headlining acts have achieved legendary status, having each performed countless shows across the continent over the years.
A hit for the 2006 festival was the fantastic line up of family and children’s entertainment. This year the line-up for Saturday afternoon will feature the Second annual Lift-Off Idol competition and Sunday afternoon will feature children entertainers “Sharon & Bram and Friends” as well the Nativity Guard National Convention Music Gala.
The entertainment line-up was unveiled Friday during the “Kick Off to Lift-Off Patio Party” at Don Cherry’s Sport Grill, sponsored by Corus Entertainment and Don Cherry’s Sport Grill. The Cornwall Square Balloon Button, the official Lift-Off entry pass was available for guests to purchase. The 2007 Lift-Off admission buttons are now on sale with an early bird discount of “Buy 3 get 1 free” available until July 1st.
The buttons sell for $10 each and offer admission for the entire duration of the festival. "The nominal button admission charge, coupled with the high quality entertainment, makes Lift-Off one of the best deals in the province," said Rob Seguin, Festival Entertainment Director. "At the cost of only $10 for the entire festival or less than $4 a night, festival goers will be able to enjoy world-class entertainment right here in Cornwall."
Buttons will be available at a number of locations throughout the city in the very near future.
