Investors Praise Cornwall at AGM

Quality of life, the people and location. Those are Cornwall’s key business advantages, according to the three guest speakers who addressed the annual general meeting of Team Cornwall Thursday morning at the Best Western Parkway Inn.

Guest speakers Bill Kaneb of Cornwall Warehousing Ltd., Micheal Eves of Allegro Residences, and Steph Kolbinger of Shoeless Joe’s Restaurant are all currently involved in significant business investments in the city.

“It’s the quality of life that Cornwall offers that keeps me here, “says Kaneb. “ This area is a beautiful playground. Cornwall provides it all”.

Allegro Residences is in the midst of an $18.5 million expansion to McConnell Manor. Eves cites location and the fact that Cornwall is a well established city as contributing factors to Allegro’s expansion decision.

Steph Kolbinger is a co-partner in the new Shoeless Joe’s restaurant on Brookdale Avenue. Kolbinger says he is “proud to call Cornwall home and excited to see Cornwall prosper”.

Team Cornwall Chair Gilles Latour was enthusiastic about the growth of Team Cornwall, noting that membership has increased to over 340 members. Latour also spoke of the city’s effort during the 2007 Kraft Hockeyville competition “I cannot put into words what happened during those two weeks of Hockeyville,” he said. “It was a phenomenal amount of work done in a very short period of time”. A number of plaques were presented to key Hockeyville contributors at the meeting.
